ABSTRACT
Introduction: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a bacterial infection that affects any part of the urinary tract such as kidney, bladder, and urethra and it is caused by different type of bacteria such as E, coli, Klebsiella pneumonia etc. It is one of the leading causes of failure in the treatment of infectious diseases, which translates it into morbidity, mortality and medical costs.
Methodology: A cross sectional study was conducted during the period February 2019 to august 2019. A total 100 urine samples were collected from different diagnostic Laboratories of KPK.Results:100 urine samples were collected from different diagnostic Laboratories of KPK. The 75samples were positive out of 100 samples for UTI. Results revealed 51 (51%) samples were positive for Escherichia Coli while Klebsiella pneumonia was positive in 14 (14%) patients. Whereas other 35 (35%) samples were negative and showed no Growth after culturing.
Conclusion: The Urinary tract infection is more common in female than male because bacteria can reach more easily in women. The reason behind is shorter urethra in women as compared to men.
