Awareness of The International Rehabilitation Guidelines In Total Knee Replacement Among The Physical Therapists Of Tertiary Care Hospitals Peshawar

Abstract

Background:

The total knee replacement is the finest choice of treatment and propitious surgical intervention that is done customarily in the progressive knee osteoarthritic population.

Aim of study:

The purpose was to determine the awareness of international guidelines of rehabilitation in phase 1 total knee replacement among the physical therapists of tertiary care hospitals in Peshawar.

Materials and Methods:

The study was a descriptive cross-sectional study. Total 60 patients participated (age 18-40) in thestudy. Participants having chronic neck pain were included in the study after their consent formwas signed. Only those subjects who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were included in the study.Chronic neck pain was assessed through a visual analogue scale and shoulder pain and activitieswere checked by SPADI. Shoulder proprioception was assessed by LP-ART. LP-ART angledeviations from normal were recorded. VAS was used to assess pain intensity. SPSS was usedfor analysis.

Results:

Mean age of the participants was 30.47±5.987. Males were 43 (71.6%) and females were 17(28.3%). The Chi-square test was applied and show that chronic neck pain is associated withshoulder pain and disability with a probability value less than 0.05 while there is no significantdifference between neck pain and shoulder proprioception with a P-value greater than 0.05

Conclusion:

The results of this study concluded that chronic neck pain affects shoulder pain and activities butno association is present between neck pain and proprioception in the young population.
