Impact of Normal Saline Vs Ringer Lactate On Blood Glucose Level In Non-Diabetic Patients Undergoing Elective Major Non-Cardiac Surgeries at NWGH Peshawar.

Background:

Ringer’s lactate (RL), are called sodium lactate solution and also Hartmann’s solution, is a inter mixture of sodium chloride, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, and sodium lactate in water Ringer lactate is used for replacing fluids therapy and electrolytes in those patients who has low blood volume.Normal saline is a mixture of salt and water. It is also called isotonic solution because itsosmolarity is same to our body osmolarity.

Non-Diabetic is a condition when someone blood glucose (sugar) level are normal or having no high blood glucose level. Intravenous fluids are an integral part of perioperative administration. Intraoperative increase in glucose is connected with miserable clinical outcomes in patients no-go major surgeries somehow in nondiabetics

Methodology:

A comparative cross-sectional study had collected at Abaseen hospital Peshawar Pakistan. The study period was from MAY 1st 2019 to JULY 30 2019 The study included all patients which are admitted for major elective non-cardiac surgeries and willing to participate, A pre-design proforma was instrumented for data collection, proforma had two groups. One which received RL solution and the other group receiving NS solution Data about different variable were recorded and analyzed by (SPSS) Version 23-

Conclusion:

For maintanance of preoperative fluid RI. solution is best choice and also used for replacement therapy in nondiabetic patients undergoing elective surgery.
