Sonographic Evaluation of Hydronephrosis and Determination of The Main Causes Among Adults In NWGH And Research Center

Background: Sonography is the safest modality in the field of radiology. Ultrasonography use sound waves for the visualization of images and is good for detecting fluid filled structures. Hydronephrosis is the build up of fluid in the renal system, it’s a common disease of the pelvicalyceal system. This is study is designed to find the causes of the hydronephrosis.

Aim: The aim of the study is to determine the main causes of the hydronephrosis in the patient undergoing renal ultrasound in NWGH Peshawar.

Material and Methods: This was a cross sectional study conducted in NWGH and analyzed using SPSS 2021.

Results: From The Study over a Period (4 Months) a Total Number of 200 patients were presented for renal ultrasound. In 200 patient 129 (64 %) patient was male and 71(35.5%) patient were female who were present at ultrasound department at NWGH Peshawar. Out of 200 patient having kidney stone were 25 (12.5 ) , family history of hydronephrosis 8 (4% ) , uretrovesical junction 5 (2.5%), prostate problem 4(2%) , pregnancy 1 ( 0.5% ) , while UTI was not found in any patient in our study while in urinary track blockage was  most common causes 16 (8%)  ureter blockage , 1(0.5% ) have bladder blockage

Conclusion: During our study renal ultrasound examination in NWGH the kidney stone was found the most common cause of hydronephrosis and ureter blockage was found the most common cause of urinary tract blockage
