Background: In head trauma cases, hemorrhages are resulted in patients caused by trauma that need quick management. Mainly head injury is caused by trauma or fracture to skull bone. There are four type of skull fracture, linear, depressed, diastatic, and basilar skull fracture. Hemorrhage can be caused by skull fracture like SDH EDH etc. Mostly x-ray was performed in early management but now trend is changing to CT scan use as a first line of investigation because CT scan has less time consumption, also CT scan gives us early and better diagnosis of intracranial hemorrhages. That’s why CT scan is mostly preferred. Also, MRI is a best diagnosing modality for soft tissues but it has a little limitation. MRI has high scan time then CT scan, also MRI is not helpful in case of metal implants and Patient motion. This study is designed to find out the frequency of different intracranial hemorrhages which is caused by Trauma to skull bone.
Aims: To determine the frequency of different intracranial bleeding and its types on CT scan.
Materials and Methods: Data was collected from consultant radiologist report through close ended questionnaire and CT scan images.
Results: Total 140 males (74.1%) and 49 (25.9%) females are included in our study. Skull fracture has the highest frequency of 120 patients followed by cerebral contusion 58, cerebral edema 48, subdural hematoma 36, subarachnoid hemorrhage 35, scalp hematoma 33, intracranial hematoma 20, intracranial hemorrhage 20, intraventricular hemorrhage 17, pneumocephalus 15, brain infraction 14, extradural hematoma 12, cerebral herniation 07, intracranial hematoma 06, extracranial soft tissue injury 06, and cerebral atrophy 05 patients.
Conclusion: Hemorrhages and hematomas are different in their shape and appearance. This study was conducted to differentiate these hemorrhages and hematomas basis on their densities also to find their types and location on CT scan.
