Comparative Analysis Of Analgesic Effect Of Dexmedetomidine And Opioids In Tertiary Care Hospital

Abstract

Background: The aim of the study is that there is research available on this topic in other countries and we are conducting this study in Pakistan’spopulation. In this research, we will compare two drugs (1) nalbuphine and (2) dexmedetomidine analgesic effects and this will provide baseline information for the future researchers

Aim and objective: the objective of the study is to compare the analgesic efficacy of dexmedetomidine with that of nalbuphine when used for pain management

Methodology:196 patients were enrolled for a comparative cross-sectional observational study which was divided into two groups Group (N) and Group (D) and the drugs were given for each group individually. preoperatively consent was signed by both groups and information was collected via Performa.

Results: The overall result after the survey defined that dexmedetomidine was more effective in analgesic effect than nalbuphine.

Conclusion: By using the Numeric pain rating scale we have determined that both drugs provide good analgesia but dexmedetomidine gives us lower values in the numeric pain rating scale and nalbuphine has higher values .which means that dexmedetomidine provides better analgesia than nalbuphine
