FREQUENCY OF CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE (CKD) AND RETINOPATHY IN DIABETIC PATIENTS AT AIMS DIABETIC HOSPITAL AND RESEARCH CENTER PESHAWAR

ABSTRACT

Objective: The aim of this analysis was to study the frequency of chronic kidney disease and retinopathy in known diabetic patients attending the AIMS Diabetic Hospital and  Research Centre Peshawar which is a 50 bed hospital specifically designed for Diabetic related patient’s treatment.

Methodology: A Cross sectional study design was carried out among known diabetic patients Samples of 106 participants were selected through HBAlC test from known diabetic patients.

Results: In the current study cross sectional observational method has been used. The data was collected from 106 DM patients through self-made Performa. Among 106 participants44 (41.5%) were males and 62 (58.5%) were females. Mean and S.D of age were also identified which is 52.45 and 11.04. Besides frequencies were also identified which shows that, most of the patients were in the age group 41 to 60 years. Among 106patients 5249.1%) were having a retinopathy and 54(50.9 %%) were not Affected. While mean and S.D were calculated as 1.5 and 0.50. In the present study those patients who were having chronic kidney disease are 55(51.9%) and 51(48.1%) were having No such Disease.

Conclusion: Diabetes is a disease that can be prevented through lifestyle modification, diet control, and control of weight and obesity. Education of the population 15 stills the key to the control of these emerging epidemics. Most of the patients were female in age group of41 to 60 years have Retinopathy and Chronic Kidney Disease.
