FREQUENCY OF RHEUMTOID ARTHRITIS IN ADULTS AT HAYAT ABAD MEDICAL COMPLEX OPD PESHAWAR, KPK

ABSTRACT

 

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory diseaselargely affects synovial joints, whichlined with a specialized tissue called synovial. RA typically affects the small joints of thehands and the feet, and usually both Sides equally and symmetrically, although any synovial joint can be affected. It 1s a systemic disease and so can affect the whole body, including theheart, lungs and eyes. Our research center was Hayatabad Medical Complex (OPD),Peshawar. After approval of proposal from the head of the institute I took permission fromthe head of the above mentioned hospital consent were taken from the patients. The aim of this study is to determine thefrequency and prevalence of Rheumatoid Arthritis in Peshawar. Total of 100 (100%) sampleswere analyzed. 26 (26%) were males and 74(74%) were females. 18 (18%) result waspositive and 82 (82%) result were negative. In the total of 18(18%) positive result only 1(5.55 %) male is positive and 17(94.44%) females positive. In 26(26%) males only 01(3.846) are positive and 25(96.1, 56) are negative. In 74(74%) females there 17(22.9%)are positive and 57(77.02%) are negative. In this study we concluded that RA factor is higherin females than males. RA patients may help physicians to make early decisions regardinginitiation of early intensive therapy with disease modifying anti-rheumatic medicines andbiological agents decreasing disability in RA patient.
