FREQUENCY OF KETOGENIC DIET & ITS RISKFACTORS AMONG FEMALE STUDENTS OF NWSMHAYATABAD PESHAWAR

Background:
The ketogenic diet (KD) as a weight management method continues to gain popularity among
college students because of its rapid weight loss results and quick health advantages.
Objective:
To determine the frequency and risk factors of Ketogenic diet among female students of NWSM.
Methodology:
This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on female students of NWSM. The duration of study was 4 months from 1st Dec, 2019 to 31st march, 2020. A detailed self-made questionnaire was developed including demographic details, questions were asked regarding ketogenic diet. Data was collected and analyzed in SPSS version 25.
Results:
In the present study we observed that majority (68.5%) of students had knowledge of ketogenic diet (KD) and from those only 27 (42%) students took ketogenic diet and majority
of them marked weight loss as a reason to take this diet. Furthermore, side effects were
mentioned by 40% students while 54% claimed that this diet is safe to follow
